Ipsy Review: October 2016

Ipsy is a monthly ($10) makeup and beauty subscription box. Each month, ipsy sends out 5 products, some full-sized while others sample-sized, in a makeup bag that reflects that month’s theme. This month’s make up bag, designed by valfre, was especially cute– a pink bag with cute doodles reflecting the spirit of Halloween and a little ghost zipper to top it off. The item’s I received for the month are as follows:

Ipsy Ghost Zipper

theBalm Cosmetics Hot Mama Blush Sample – ($1.70)

This shimmery pink blush can also double as an eyeshadow. Since it was too light for my skin color (medium), I tried using it as an eye shadow, which worked much better. I would not invest in this simply because I do not like how the color looks against my skin. However, It is very pigmented and a great option for someone who likes the color!

Noyah Cosmetics Lipstick in Currant News- Sample ($5.60)

I absolutely loved this lipstick. the application is smooth and it leaves your lips feeling soft. The dark color is perfect for fall and also works perfectly against my skin! I am very picky with my lipsticks but this definitely made the cut!

Nudestix Concealer Pencil in Medium 4- Full Size ($24)

I had never used a concealer pencil before this and was not planning on doing so anytime in the near future either. However, after trying this, I liked the Nudestix concealer pencil a bit more than my current concealer (Rimmel Wake Me Up in Medium). I only say this because the pencil does not leave a shine under my eyes like my current concealer tends to. It also conceals my dark circles pretty well. The application is also smooth and stays on pretty well. Definitely check out a sample before investing in this as I found the medium to be lighter than I would have expected.

Pure Braziliaan

Kokie Cosmetics Nail Polish in Heavenly- Full Size ($5.99)

I am a huge nail polish fan and am always on the lookout for nail polish that dries quickly since I have a habit of messing up nail polish before it even dries. I applied Kokie to see how the color would look (it is better than it looks) and went about my day. I realized much later that I had not messed  up the nail I had painted! I love the matte lavender color and with its quick drying, I definitely plan on investing in more!

Pure Brazilian Leave In Miracle 1oz Sample Size (S6.00)

I am pretty picky about leave-in conditioners and was skeptical at first to try this. It smells great and doesn’t make my hair feel sticky or oily which is definitely a plus. My hair is thick and curly and frizzy on a whole different level and would have to try this longer to see if it is worth an investment. However, at first glance it is pretty nice and worth a try if you are trying to find a leave-in conditioner that smells and feels good. Let me know how it works for you!

Final Decision : Was Ipsy worth it this month?

I would say yes for sure. The grand total for this month was $43.29, which is pretty good for spending $10.

Also, there are many items I would use again such as the noyah lipstick, NUDESTIX Concealer Pencil, and Kokie Cosmetics Nailpolish that I may not have tried otherwise. This has been the first Ipsy bag that I liked in a while and look forward to using the products!
