Looking to stay in and host a party? It might sound like the best thing in the world to host people, but their is a lot of work that goes into all of it. The house needs to be cleaned, furniture needs to be moved, food to be made and of course cleaning all of it afterwards. It is a great experience and I would recommend anyone who haven’t hosted a party or get-together to do so as soon as possible. One of the things to look out for is providing snacks for everyone that come. It can be one of the hardest things to provide to guest due to how diverse we are and our own preferences. One thing that everyone can agree on is healthy snacks for the guest, as many people are trying to live a fuller and healthier life.
Their is a lot of healthy snacks for parties, and I would recommend getting 2 – 4 of them to have a diverse amount. Here they are below:
1. Salted Almonds or Assorted Nuts
Nuts are a great way to provide protein to our body while reducing the amount of fat and carbs we consume. These are one of the best party snacks and they are very healthy. I would usually have several flavors and have them in several bowls for my friends and family to eat.
2.Oven Baked Zucchini Chips
Zucchini chips are a healthy alternative to the greasy fried chips that we can all get at the supermarket. This involves slicing the zucchini into small pieces and then breading the sides with breadcrumbs. The result is a crispy and delicious vegetable chips that can be paired with sour cream or your special dipping sauce.
3.Fresh Cut Fruits
Fruits are a necessity for any party that is going to be outdoors. They provide a nice cold refreshment and sweetness without all the chemically added corn syrup that other sweets have. Plus most fruits have little to not fat, another healthy alternative to many other snacks. Fresh cut fruits are a great snack to have on any occasion.
Grape tomatoes are another light snack that you can just purchase from the market and requires no preparing. These are great especially when you might need to gather healthy snacks relatively fast. In those instances, purchase two boxes of grape tomatoes and a bag of salted nuts. You should have enough food to consume for up to 5 to 6 people for two hours. Now it is recommended to adjust this according to however many people are coming and how long they plan on staying!
5.Celery and Carrot Platter
A combo that has been around for as long as I can remember. These two vegetables are great to eat and provide nutrients that we desperately need in our body such as fiber, vitamin B6, vitamin C, and more. On top of that, these two vegetables have little to not fat, making it an excellent healthy treat.
The main thing to consider is the dip that is going to be served with this platter. Many times they are made with a lot of fat and cards, dips like ranch, bleu cheese, and more should be avoided. Replace it with lighter dips such as hummus, red pepper and avocado.
A diverse choice is edamame which is a soybean usually prepared in China, Japan and other Asian countries. The pods are steamed or boiled and are tossed with light salt to finish it off. Edamame is an excellent choice especially since it is high in protein, a key nutrient to keep your guest full. On top of it, a cup of edamame has lot fat and high fiber. Plus it can keep your friends guessing on what the treat actually is.
Another healthy alternative to regular fried potato chips are pita chips. They can also be easily made ( by buying them ) and also they are great when paired with Hummus. I usually love to have red pepper hummus which gives it an additional kick. Some people love it, others might not.
If you don’t want to go to the store and would prefer making it yourself, you can! It is quite easy and takes less than 20 minutes. Pita chip recipe.
Trying to get healthy snacks for parties can be confusing. Just take some of the snacks mentioned above and for sure, your party will also be a blast. I have a party to host soon, so i’ll be getting some of these, hope you do as well.
